One of the coolest things that I saw in Africa where the visible hands and feet of Jesus.
Can I introduce them to you?
Meet Ali (far left). Without Ali there would be minimal sustenance for the kiddos. Ali donated a large portion of his land to the project to be used as the garden to grow food and cotton. The garden is so big it brought me to tears. God's provision was so evident. Ali heads up the garden and has men that are hired to help him. There is even a solar powered well that waters the gardens. Ali's hands and feet of Jesus are irreplaceable. He is sacrificial and caring.
Meet Miriam. Miriam is a nurse. She is 70. Everyday during our stay she would ride a cramped mini-bus and then take a bicycle taxi to our house to ride another hour in the car to help us care for the kids. Throughout her life Miriam has cared for many refugees, orphans, and families. One day she got a phone call from someone she housed in the late 1980's! Her heart is amazing! She serves in Funsani tirelessly and effortlessly. Her heart for Jesus is something I want to emulate in my own life. She is simply amazing.
Meet Floricy, missing from the picture is her husband Jonathon. These two are the house mom and dad for the 15 residents of the facility. They not only care for their own 3 children, the 15 residents, but the other 160 orphans that are a part of the program. They teach the kids not only in their words, but in their actions. They are loving, caring, and have a servant heart the size of Texas. If one of the kiddos doesn't come around for awhile, Jonathon goes and finds them. He knows where they all live and knows where those that don't come anymore live. This couple has made many sacrifices but each one brings a smile to their face and the heart of Jesus. They are a great example of the hands and feet of Jesus.
So that leads me to this.
How can you and I be the hands and feet of Jesus where we live? How can we serve those around us?
We can do it. His Word tells us we can.
You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. -Philippians 4:13.
Go get 'em!
Love,
Abby
